I have extensive experience of portrait photography work, with individuals or small groups, in black and white and in colour. I love eyes, expressions and laughter in equal measure. These form the focus of my images and this is what I will capture for you.
Most family and maternity portrait photoshoots take place at my home-based studio in Ealing, West London, but I am happy to operate in your own home too or on location. The length of a session varies according to your needs, but an hour is typical. Beforehand, I will consult with you about what you love most in images, to help you guide me in planning your photoshoot as well as offering advice on what to wear.
Whether it is for pregnancy, babies, young children, teenagers, or adults, your photoshoot will be a fun experience with lots of laughter, chatting and playing around. Photographing individuals or family units is a real joy and I want to give you images of this for you to treasure.
I love engaging with people of all different stages in life and will create the right atmosphere for you to enjoy your session. If you are pregnant, your photoshoot is an opportunity to stop and cherish the moment, feel beautiful, and have a relaxing time whilst I produce some gorgeous fine art images for you. If you have a newborn, your photoshoot is all about taking time out to dote on your little baby in a calm place whilst I create beautiful pictures for you to remember this stage in all of your lives. There is never a rush. For little and older children, your photoshoot is time for tickling each other, giggling, letting balloons off, hiding behind each other, lying on big beanbags, swinging on stools, or sometimes just looking cool. It is up to you, I will take my cue from you. My job is to make you feel at home and capture you at your best - this is what I am good at.
Within a week of the session I will present you with around 60 emotive images in a variety of styles. These can be viewed in a password protected album on this site, from which you can choose your favourite pictures. Ordering and payment can all be done online.

Please be assured that I have introduced a few new measures in my studio so that we all stay protected from Covid-19:
- Extra scrupulous cleaning of the studio surfaces immediately before customers come in, including disinfecting any touch points: door bell & knocker, chair arms, door handles, studio toilet/sink touch points and always fresh towels.
- I will wash my hands before starting the photoshoot and ask customers to do the same on entering or use hand sanitiser provided in the studio.
- We will observe social distancing at all times but I am very happy to wear a mask if you would like me to, please just let me know.
- During the session I will refrain from touching anything of yours if at all possible, but will wash or use hand sanitiser at regular intervals as a precaution.
- If it’s not too cold outside I will have the windows open for maximum ventilation.
- I will contact you the day before your photoshoot to check that both you and I are well and confirm that neither of us are showing any Covid-19 symptoms.
"We love Melanie Moss Photography! We've had family photoshoots with Melanie since the children were really little and love the results every time. Melanie not only manages to get us all to relax but keeps the kids completely engaged at the same time. The most difficult part is selecting which photos we want as she also manages to make us look pretty good too!" Please read more testimonials here
